Local artist Will Joubert Alves works from his studio in Mountainside, Gordon's Bay. Will was born in Zimbabwe in 1968, and grew up on a farm and learnt to paint and draw at an early age. He studied Art Education at Pretoria College of Education and went on to travel Europe for a few years, influenced by the great modern masters of art, such as Matisse, Mondrian, Dali, Chagall, and pop artists Warhol and Lichtenstein.
Will is also a graphic designer and illustrator and creates art in both digital and paint mediums. His large scale abstract art is bright, bold and very powerful. He calls them Pop Abstracts because the colours are so intense and modern, made for modern interiors. Will also paints nudes, florals and pop art narrative scenes.
His work can be commissioned according to size and colour for specific interiors.
